The football world does not close its eyes to the corona crisis. Various clubs and supporter groups have taken initiatives to support healthcare. Everyone realizes: the battle is currently not being fought on the football field, but in hospitals.
Manchester rivals work together
Manchester United and Manchester have made a joint donation of 117,000 pounds to the food bank of the Greater Manchester Area. The two Premier League rivals are helping to meet the increased demand because of the corona crisis. With this joint statement the Manchester football teams transcend mutual rivalry. Normally there is hatred and envy between the two, but in times of crisis the two opponents support what is really important: health. Football is the most important side issue in life, but there are currently problems that put everything into perspective.

Bundesliga players hand in salary
Footballers from different Bundesliga clubs have made a big gesture. On a voluntary basis, players from Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Werder Bremen, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen, among others, have handed in part of their salary. This saves the clubs a significant amount of money and does not bring the jobs of the people who work in the office in danger. At Bayern Munich, the players hand in no less than twenty percent of their salary. In the case of Robert Lewandoswki, that amounts to four million euros, which he would not receive on an annual basis. A decision that you can only respect.
Ronaldo and Messi donate to hospitals
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi also show their best intentions. Ronaldo has made donations to two hospitals in Portugal. Thanks to his financial support, intensive care could be expanded to include more medical equipment and beds. Messi made one million pound available to two hospitals, one in Barcelona and one in his home country of Argentina. That money is used to treat patients and do more research into the coronavirus.
Stay save and healthy everybody!
