Football trips Bayer Leverkusen

Experience the battle for the Bundesliga with a football trip to watch Bayer Leverkusen in action; especially if they’re playing arch-rivals FC Köln or Bayern Munich. And, if the name of the club sounds familiar, that’s no coincidence: the club was founded by employees of Bayer pharmaceutical company in 1904.

The team – who play in red (home) and black (away) – has been a permanent fixture in the Bundesliga since 1979, gaining four hard-fought second places between 1997 to 2002. And earlier, in 1988, the club won the UEFA Cup after a nail-biting final against Espanyol.

The city Leverkusen

Enjoy the good life with a football trip to Leverkusen which borders the city of Cologne. Both offer much in the way of inspiration, culture, good food – and importantly – fun!

But definitely head into Cologne to relax on one of its charming terraces in the old centre. The city also has its own beer – Kölsch – brewed since 1906. Why not sample it at a traditional brewery? The most famous are Reissdorf, Früh and Miihlen.

You’ll find the best eateries on the Heumarkt and Neumarkt squares, and cheap and cheerful restaurants in the city’s charming little streets. And if you do make the trip from Leverkusen to Cologone, you definitely shouldn’t miss Cologne Cathedral, one of the largest of its kind in Europe. You can even climb the tower for incredible views across the city. With around 3,000 pubs, cafés and restaurants, Cologne is an ideal destination for a delicious football package.
