The renovated stadium was reopened in 1975 with a match between FC Cologne and Fortuna Cologne: FC Cologne won 1-0. In 2002-2004, the stadium was renovated once more and thanks to its revolutionary new lighting system changed its name to RheinEnergieStadion.
