Parc des Princes was officially opened on 4 June 1972 by French president Georges Pompidou – and a year later became the home ground of the then young Paris Saint-Germain club.
Designed for ‘comfort’ and ‘visibility’ by Roger Taillibert, the stadium was widely praised at the opening and the architect received several awards for his avant-garde masterpiece. Parc de Princes hosted UEFA Euro 2016.
